My Eyes Are Up Here
One of my favorite things to do while traveling is walk through the local parks or gardens. I love the opportunity to people watch while keeping an eye and ear out for the animals that have adjusted to the presence of humans. It's always the squirrels that become the most bold. As I walked through Los Colomos Forest in Guadalajara, Mexico, several squirrels followed me for an uncomfortably long time, waiting to see if I would drop any food. I found respite in the Japanese Garden. I fed the koi (to the chagrin of the squirrels) and had a nice little sit down by the pond. I took out my sketchbook and took in my surroundings. When I noticed the bush next to me had the most appealing flowers, I was instantly invested in capturing their geometry.
