Turn My Dials
This past summer (July '26) I was lucky to get tickets to watch Mexico in the group stage of the World Cup. I visited Parque Rojo (literally Red Park) with my family and while my nephews ran around, I sat on the swings and took out my sketchbook. The entire park had a red theme. Red squishy floor, red jungle gym, terracotta walls, even the light posts were red. That's what caught my eye. The lampposts themselves had such an interesting shape with a circle light bulb and a red half halo surrounding it. That's where the piece started. Once I had a circle theme going, it was easy to run with it. I'm always amazed at the beauty that comes from repetition. Not every line on a page needs to be unique in order to create something captivating.
